L-DOPA is a naturally occurring amino acid found in the human brain and in certain plants (Macuna pruriens, or velvet bean). L-Dopa is produced from the amino acid L-Tyrosine in the body. L-Dopa is able to cross the blood-brain-barrier and convert into Dopamine. Dopamine is one of the main neurotransmitters (brain chemicals that transmit messages) involved in mood, focus, memory, motivation, and movement. Increasing Dopamine has been show to have positive effects in healthy adults
